"From Multicultural To Intercultural"

"From Multicultural To Intercultural" is a youth exchange, which will be held between 21th and 30th August 2014 In Sofia. The project will involve a total of thirty young people from Norway, Spain, Romania, Turkey and Bulgaria in age between 18 and 25. The project aims to facilitate the transition of the European Society FROM MULTICULTURAL SOCIETY where different cultures, national, ethnic, religious groups all living within the same territory BUT not necessarily coming into contact with each other, a society where difference is often viewed negatively and forms a major justification for discrimination TO INTERCULTURAL SOCIETY where different cultures, national groups, etc. living together in within a territory, maintain open relations of interaction, exchange and mutual recognition of their own and respective values and ways of life. The methodology which will be used in the implementation of the project will be based on the informal learning or called "learning by doing" conducted outside the formal education system. As a result of its participation in the Youth Exchange "From Multicultural To Intercultural", each of the young people will develop some of the eight key competences for lifelong learning, seen as a collection of knowledge, skills and attitudes , namely: communication skills in a language different from the native ; learning to learn; cultural awareness , expression , etc. The project participants will have the opportunity to discover new cultures, customs and way of life as a result of the process of mutual learning and feelings of solidarity and friendship with each of them will be significantly strengthened. Potential long-term benefits of this project will consist of: - Strengthening of intercultural dialogue and mutual understanding and respect; - Elimination of stereotypes and prejudices, reducing the risk of discrimination; - Building an active and civil engaged youth.
