FREE YOURSELF BY PLAYING

The project called "Free Yourself by Playing" takes place in Cluj-Napoca, the middle of Transylvania, and north-west part of Romania. The HO and CO is Foundation Csemete, which collaborates with the Csemete Nursery School (preschool children aged 1-6) and runs the program for disabled children aged 7-14. The project is designed for minority and disabled children. The objectives is to teach these Hungarian and Roma minority and disabled children through playing to become better, self-confident, aware adults, with equal rights and chances to integrate into a developing society, and play their role as European citizens. The four volunteers will come from Programme Countries: Portugal, Germany and Spain. The activities are designed and adapted to the age of the children, because they discover the world and learn by playing. Using this ludic method, which is archaic and innovative in the same time, we planned to teach them Hungarian, Romanian and English, adapted to their own age group, to teach them self-respect and respect of the others, and other values and tolerance. The volunteers will observe this goal oriented games, and later one they will contribute with their own ideas and games from their home country helped by the nursery teachers and tutors. The children and the volunteers will learn to play together, will learn Hungarian, Romanian and English, music, sport, art, science, culture, healthy living habits, environment-awareness and stories. The children will be more prepared to face the challenges of everyday life, the volunteers will have more chance to be employed, and the partner institutions will acquire experience in international collaboration. As potential longer term benefits these children participating in the project will have a better chance to integrate into the Romanian society as equal citizens, the volunteers will know another culture, language and this will increase their chance for a better living, and they will become self-aware European citizens, and the partner institutions will enhance Information and Communication Technologies, will develop better collaboration and innovative non-formal learning techniques.
