Free Web Portal on Environment, Forestry and Wood Science (ENVIFOR-WEB)
Date du début: 30 avr. 2012, Date de fin: 29 avr. 2014 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The goal of the project can be connected to several declared priority. From these we emphasize the subject "Increasing the social and cultural coherence between people and communities" of the priority category "Economy and Society" in the 2nd group of priorities. Our proposal is also connected to the subject "Improving the access and information flow of the border region" of the priority category "Protection of Environment and nature, accessibility". These connections can be understood from technical and - on the other hand - substantial aspects. From the technical aspect, the bilingual, freely accessible electronic web portal, storing valuable information for numerous social groups, has such properties, which ensure the widespread accessibility and targeted use of stored information on both sides of the border. From the substantial aspect, it covers definite demands from the border region. We emphasize the connections to the environmental problems, events and researches. These affect the critical points of environment protection of the border region and the problem of cross-border pollution of environment. These items effect - in some cases determine - the everyday life of people living there. Also the effect of an important economical branch of the region (forestry and wood industry) is a dominant factor on the environmental situation. So - from the theoretical aspect - the web portal (database) is extraordinarily suitable not only to strengthen the mutual environmental social cohesion, but the mutual handling of certain problems can also be achieved by making the information basis bilingual. Achievements: Forestry and wood industry are a dominant factor for the environmental situation and have a strong effect on the everyday lives of people. This project satisfies demands from the border region to have a bilingual, freely accessible electronic web portal on the environment, forestry and wood science, storing valuable information for researchers, students and other professional groups. The database contains more than 20 thousand pages of 1,000 professional articles each, between the years 1950 and 2000. It is suitable not only to strengthen social cohesion, but a joint handling of certain problems can also be achieved by making the information bilingual.
