Französische Didaktik und Entwicklung innovativer Unterrichtsmethoden für Anfänger bis zum Maturaniveau im Fach Französisch

The training activity is intended to improve the skills of our employees in various areas, that means on the one hand to allow innovative ideas and modern teaching methods in our school and on the other hand to perfect the language skills of our teachers. In addition, the mobility is to support the participants of our school going to broaden their educational horizons, to acquire new valuable experiences and to share these with other colleagues from different countries. In this way the quality of language teaching should be improved at our school. The European dimension must not be disregarded. It is very important for us to develop an international network, to start a dialogue with schools in other countries and to introduce possible common activities. The cultural understanding of the French culture should be promoted in order to grant a good insight in the lessons. The French teacher will take part in an in-service training course abroad not only to develop her teaching methods but also in order to find potential partners for our future projects. Furthermore, the program of our participant offers the opportunity to expand her educational horizons, to open up to new forms of teaching, to gain valuable experience in the field of didactics and share them with colleagues from different countries. We hope that the experience gained through didactic content and internationalisation will make our teaching more authentic and motivating to both teachers and pupils. Our teacher Mag. Elvira Koch-Strasser took part in a training course in France to develop her teaching methods, but also to participate in an exchange of experience with other French teachers. Mag. Koch-Strasser works in our school since 1999 and leads a small group of language teachers for several years. That is why it is very important for her to pass her own knowledge on to her colleagues. The colleague was selected mainly due to their willingness to participate in this training program and thus to gain important new experiences for our school. Further she is an experienced teacher and can thus contribute to an interesting exchange method. She is always open to the acquisition of new skills in order to integrate them into her own lessons. She belongs also to those colleagues who take part in programs of continuing education, on the one hand to implement the knowledge acquired in practice and on the other hand to share it with other teachers. During teacher training program, emphasis was placed on the following contents: 1. French methodology and didactics 2. learn about French Culture 3. Application of new technologies in language teaching Issues such as society , media, music and education were at the forefront . French chansons were didactically prepared. Text excerpts from contemporary literature were read and processed together . The interactive course provided an overview of new activities , new skills and new teaching techniques . Regarding the development of language comprehension examples have been brought on the basis of photographs, text , audio and video material . Interesting exercises on the Internet should illustrate the use of this medium in the French classes . The training received by our teacher abroad , has a very positive impact on our school . Our colleague held internal presentations on what they have learned , where she informed other colleagues about her new experience . There has been an exchange not only with the group of French teachers, but also during seminars . Short presentations of the stay in France were held as part of extra-curricular events such as the Open Day . The dissemination of her knowledge gained has proven for the entire teaching staff of our institution as a great addition . The language skills that could enhance Mag. Koch-Strasser in France, had primarily a direct impact on their own teaching. The contact with another culture and thus acquired knowledge can incorporate our colleague regularly in their lessons. This can be reproduced authentically from her own experience in class. By improving language proficiency on the part of the teacher's teaching quality is enhanced and the development of the skills of the students generally is promoted. The candidate could broaden her knowledge of best practices in the classroom and learn new teaching approaches that are now used in her French lessons. Also the new acquisition of knowledge relating to materials and methods are used in the preparation of her lessons. Through learning of playful activities in the classroom a more varied learning environment is created, which in turn increases student motivation. The participant makes use of her learned skills successfully in class, so that our educational program is supplemented with new international aspects. The experiences gained through educational content and internationalization make the teaching of foreign languages at our school authentic and motivating both for the teachers and for the pupils.
