The Kölcsey Ferenc Gimnázium (Kölcsey Ferenc Secondary Grammar School) is an accredited member of the National Talent Point Network. The most important area of talent cultivated is teaching foreign languages. It was 27 years ago that the special-ized bilingual French classes were launched. Thanks to considerable support from the French state, teacher training programmes and field trips for students in France could be organized. This source of support has unfortunately dried up by now. Teaching in a French bilingual class requires special preparation from the teachers, not to mention effective methodology. Students enrolled in this class type usually leave primary school bearing a good certificate; by the time they finish secondary education they are expected to bear an excellent one. The proportion of drop-outs and class-leavers is around 10%. Besides developing talent, coaching for individual needs has become another issue to be tackled. If we want our students to experience and enjoy learning and communicating in a foreign language, we need to organize plenty of extracurricular activities for them. The better methodology they employ and the more creative our teachers are, the more enjoyable these activities will be. Such complex training programmes are not available in Hungary. The Erasmus + tender would provide us with the opportunity to organise -after a long interval- a training for our teachers, focusing on the strategical aims set by the special needs of students in a bilingual class. We have designed the teacher training course for a period of two years. Taking into consideration the length of the school year, we have divided the training period into four cycles: 2014 fall session, 2015 fall and spring sessions, 2016 spring session. The participants of the training course have been divided into groups of two and three. The group with three participants includes one teacher who is just starting their teaching carrier so the other two teachers in the group will also act as mentors to their new colleague. Once back home, the groups with two experienced teachers will be able to implement innovative methods and will act as catalysts in their team. The experience they gain during the training course will also inspire the home team of teachers to develop new teaching techniques. (The interaction of teachers will hap-pen already during the mobility. Altogether ten teachers will participate in the mo-bility program including a member of the institution's leaders. We expect the training course to provide ideas on how to find new ways to integrate specific subject matter into the curriculum of language teaching and on how to blend complex elements into everyday teaching practice. Both of these issues pose a chal-lenge mainly to teachers who either teach civilization or science. That is why four of the ten participating teachers are involved in teaching civilization and another four in teaching science subjects in the given language. Since there is no such training at university level, finding and training new teachers is an urgent goal. Since learning these subjects is quite a challenge for most students even in their mother tongue, providing for high quality teaching materials and using new teaching methods is an urgent and important task. Teaching civilization and science subjects in the given language require both special equipment and materials. There are no testbooklets or other materials available for student assessment. Handbooks on methodology and other specific reference materials are also hard to come by. At the same time teachers are faced with the daily task of providing their students with adequate teaching ma-terials and objective assessment. We expect the training course to provide our teach-ers with sources of backup materials and lots of new ideas on how to prepare them-selves for the above mentioned tasks. Our teachers have written schoolbooks, are examiners at different language exams, they prepare their students for competitions like OKTV – some of them won the same competition when they were students themselves. In Hungary they are a small group in the profession that is why they know about each other’s work. We are sure that they will share the experience and the knowledge they can gain in the training with the others at different meetings, workshops or in student programmes. Our teachers can disseminate that good practice to other institutes as well. During student exchange programmes our school often takes the initiative. We can be effective that way on the international scale.
