Forum Européen des Jeunes Engagés
Date du début: 1 août 2015, Date de fin: 31 oct. 2015 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Our association, the Afev, will organize the first edition of the European Forum of Voluntary Youth (Foreje), August 26-27 2015, in Lille. The focus of this seminar will lie on democracy and ways for young people to develop democratic models. To build this project, the Afev works in partnership with five other structures Anacej, Animafac, Graines de France, Les Petits Débrouillards and Unis-Cité. Young volunteers, our "Ambassadors", will be involved in all phases of the project: from the implementation to the assessment. The forum is built around three plenary debates involving decision-makers and young people. Each plenary will gather personalities who will present their point of view. The young ambassadors will co-animate the debate and facilitate the youth’s expression from the audience. To provide spaces for a dialogue in smaller groups with experts, policy makers and formalize concrete proposals on each topic addressed, 30 specific workshops will complement the 3 plenary sessions. The aim of these workshops is to enable the 400 participants to meet in a smaller format and to discuss the themes of their choice (4 sessions per theme). The themes of these workshops have been put forward by the young members of the associations organizers of the event, because they seem consistent with the issues related to their commitment. The sought-after impacts: - For the young participants, whereof some lacking opportunities: to develop a better understanding of democratic functioning, youth politics and enable them to develop proposals for changes in these politics. The young participants will gain skills promoting social inclusion such as: open-mindedness, ability to present one’s arguments and organizational capacity. - For the decision makers: to create spaces for direct exchanges with young people so that they can take into account, even support the proposals of the young participants. - For the organizations: incorporate the proposals made by the young people in their various pleadings, and present them to their networks of decision-makers. In a longer-term vision, the young “Foreje” participants will spread their ideas and proposals to other Youths and to the public they will encounter through their voluntary work. The interpersonal skills that they will have acquired will enable them to adopt a benevolent attitude to these audiences.
