Form@tic - Information and communication technologies (ICTs) for trainers - ways of integrating them into a new job description

The Form@tic project involves providing trainers with training and professional qualifications in the information and communication technologies. The project entails developing and implementing a structured European approach. The first stage of the project will involve analysing the situation of open and distance learning in each of the partner countries and examining the needs of trainers in the area. During the second stage of the project, a common reference framework for the profession will be created which will identify the skills and qualifications of trainers and will make them acquainted with and train them how to make appropriate use of the main multimedia tools available to them (CD-ROMs, chat rooms, forums, FAQ, video conferences, etc.). On the basis of the results of these analyses, the project will involve the creation of mixed training courses which will act as a reference for three specific areas of training: office automation, languages and training in setting up a business. The project also involves piloting previous strategies by running pilot courses in the three sectors mentioned above and ensuring that the trainers involved carry out an evaluation. A methodological guide on designing mixed training courses will also be developed. The project will be publicised via a website and by distributing CD-ROMs. A seminar for experts and trainers will be organised at the end of the project.
