FORMACION PROFESORADO IES ARXIDUC LLUIS SALVADOR
Date du début: 1 juil. 2014, Date de fin: 30 juin 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The borders within the European Community have been abolished regarding trade, employment and other sectors, but still have to be broken down in education and teaching. Our school is concerned with the attempt to eliminate them. This is implemented in all our courses and subjects of secondary education in the form of European Sections. The new program of Comprehensive Treatment of Languages was introduced this year; within it some subjects in the first year (1st ESO) are taught in English to all the groups. Our school is located in the centre of Palma de Mallorca. The students come from schools in various parts of the city and schools around the island as well. Many of our students are from countries outside European Union, which enables a pro-European approach to teaching in order to promote integration of these students into society both locally and on the regional and international level. Another issue is that students leave school early without pursuing their studies. Innovative techniques and methodologies of teaching will make the learning process more attractive to students and encourage them to continue with higher education. European projects are ideal tools to combat the current problems in education, and therefore our school promotes their implementation. In the current project the participants have been selected from the teaching staff. The selection process was transparent at every stage. The requirements that the teachers have to meet in order to participate in the project were following: - They belong to the department where some of the subjects are taught in English - They are interested in participating in the project and willing to teach from another point of view The participants selected for this project have the following characteristics: - Average age of 49 years - The level of English proficiency among the participants ranges from B1 to C1 according to Common European Framework - Preparation for the development of the activity. All the participants are attending English courses - Sustainability of the project. The selected teachers are those with permanent employment at the school, which ensures the continuity in the project. The objectives to be achieved must be clearly stated in the project. Monitoring the preliminary and later stages of the project will give us a clear idea about the impact of the activity on the participants. The language course will take place in Dublin, due to the relative ease of transportation between the two cities. The arrangements concerning the language course will be made by the participants of the project and all the participants need to have the European Health Card. The course will be held during the school holidays and all the arrangements will be made before the end of the school year. The objective of the language course is to improve the proficiency in English among the participants. To achieve the desired objectives of this course, the project coordinator will contact the course provider and give a clear explanation about the course certificates and evaluation of the objectives. The language course provider will issue certificates confirming the attendance of the language course. Similarly, the participants must deliver a report in which they evaluate the course, as well as the impact it had on them. As preparation for this activity all project participants are attending an English course in Palma de Mallorca. The dissemination of the project and its results will be made public on the level of the school, the city and the province, with articles in the press, radio and local TV. The Ministry for Education and Europass will provide certification of the language course. The project will have an impact on all aspects of education. Owing to acquisition of new skills and strategies the teachers will promote the development of new international cooperation projects between different countries, which will bring extensive benefits to the students. Making teaching more active and attractive will decrease truancy, offer new challenges to young people who will have opportunity to finish their training in another country in Europe and help to minimize the differences between various countries.
