Sant Gervasi is one of the 46 Official Language School in Catalonia and provides three different types of tuition to students of English and German as a foreign language. Course modality ranges from the all-year-round regular courses -covering from A2 to C1 of the CEF- to much specific courses for adults to younger learners. At EOI Sant Gervasi, we offer three-month continuing education programmes for adults aimed at both bringing up to date skills in the language and ESP . Lastly, and thanks to a cooperation agreement with secondary schools in the district we offer tailor- made tuition in English and German to enable junior students to have an official certificate of their foreign language skills. Objective and summaryIn the year 2014/2015 our school included a project in the school curriculum a project in which all the teaching staff and students of the regular courses were involved. The project consists in the production of an in-house TV channel called Sant Gervasi TV, which broadcasts in English and German . Every class contributes to the channel producing a programme which somehow maps the course syllabus of the students involved. In order to boost group confidence the school had the support of a drama tutor who helped up on the performing side of the TV project.The first edition of Sant Gervasi TV was released in 2014/2015. Yet , and despite its great success and wonderful reception among students, this first production highlighted a lack of skills from the teachers and as a consequence, the need to find the right training so that the project would not be compromised . Therefore, the objective of our application is mainly to provide specific training to teachers so that this knowledge can be applied not only in the making of Sant Gervasi TV, but also in the ELT classroom. We believe that using audiovisual techniques is the future of language learning. Our project proves the important contribution of drama techniques as an activator of language production. Combining both aspects in a project, and also in our daily teaching pedagogical activity, seems to be critical, since our objective as foreign language teachers is that our students can use foreign languages in a wide range of situations and contexts.All the regular teaching staff of the centre is involved in the project. The candidates who will participate in the training courses together with the management team and the teaching staff, have decided on the courses and activities that are to be undertaken before, during and after the training. Trainees will be responsible for re-stating Sant Gervasi TV from September 2016 onwards. The applicants are five teachers –two from the English Department and 3 from the German Department- who will attend very specific courses: 3 one-week courses and 2 two-week courses. All of them provide in-depth knowledge on how to use audiovisual media on the one hand, and drama techniques on the other.The implementation of the training acquired will be seen in the Sant Gervasi TV project in 2016/17. Our intention is to keep on including this type of all-school collaborative projects in our annual programming. We believe that our teaching community will benefit from this training , which will no doubt boost our drama and technology skills.The first stage of training, that is to say the current one, should continue in the next years with the collaboration of further institutions, since we have another priority: the internationalization of our school, and collaborative work with other European institutions that might have the same interests as ours.
