FOMETEX - Promotion of an Entrepreneurial Spirit amongst Women in the Textiles Sector

The FOMOTEX project aims to promote increased business competencies amongst a specific target group, namely, women with employment experience in the textile or clothing sector. Further focused upon women living in rural areas, the project aims to provide this group with the knowledge, competences and tools to create their own company, contributing at the same time to an increase employment rates among unemployed women of all ages and to the promotion of equal opportunities. The project will initially undergo a needs analysis in relation to the target group in the participating partner countries. A profiling exercise in relation to the target group will further allow the identification of available opportunities, will present a series of actual case studies and will profile the "successful female entrepreneur". Findings of the initial studies will be exchanged between project partners, along with actual examples of good practice to contribute towards the development of support materials for potential female entrepreneurs. Training methodology, tools and materials will be brought together by the project and will consider issues specific to the target group, such as physical and/or time distance from training provision, minimal qualification/education levels and home & family commitments. A summary of available tools, programmes and materials will be presented by the project in the form of an information database, in EN and all other partner languages, and will be presented on CD-Rom and via the project website. End results will comprise the initial studies/analyses, the database of training courses/materials, a profile of a successful woman entrepreneur, an information centre for women on potential sources of financing, a tool for the evaluation of business skills & aptitudes and a range of additional materials to support potential women entrepreneurs. Initial dissemination will include a piloting phase with target sector & target group representatives. Additional activities will include the release of articles to relevant press and other media, the inclusion of project information and results into partner websites and a series of mailings & e-mailings to identified partner networks.
