FIRCTE3 : Teacher training and methods for centres in performing arts technology

The FIRCTE3 project concerns technical and technical/artistic professions in the performing arts, covering the following job profiles: stage machinery, lighting, sound, stage management, scenery construction, costumes, characterisation and props, where the training does not follow the traditional 'master-apprentice' model in the performing arts. The project is based on the results of two earlier projects - FIRCTE and FIRCTE2 - which established methods for evaluating the skills of professionals and students and developed initial training plans for the above profiles. FIRCTE3 puts the emphasis on the quality of the training. Its objectives are therefore to develop and improve the skills of teachers by providing them with effective, appropriate pedagogical tools, lay down a basic teacher training plan, develop teaching methods specific to the different teaching units (theory, theory/practice, laboratory work, workshops, etc.) and develop a system of ongoing, objective evaluation. The project is also linked to an EPTE3 placement project, enabling immediate testing of the results and products relating to business practices and tutor training.
