Date du début: 1 mars 2013,

EVS volunteers will be placed on a non-profit 18 acre Fair Trade Co-operative Farm in St. Vincent & the Grenadines and undertake a range of activities designed to mitigate the impact of climate change, support fair trade, protect the environment and contribute to the social development of rural farming communities. This diaspora-led service learning project will enables Black &Minority Ethnic young people to develop ‘soft skills’ such as self-confidence, leadership, teamwork and communication through tackling global environmental issues. The principal aim of the project is to increase the chances of B&ME youth getting into employment, education or training. The project provides two long term placements (6 months) and four short term placements (2 months) for young people with fewer opportunities. On successful completion of the EVS assignment volunteers have the option to have their Youthpass accredited towards a level 2 leadership qualification. The lasting impact of this project will be to;• Consolidate a partnership through which B&ME communities in Europe can volunteer overseas, that is sensitive towards and celebrates the value of their cultural heritage and history • Demonstrate to young people the value of ‘diaspora connections’ between B&ME communities in Europe and other countries in the world, and identify opportunities for entrepreneurship, mobility and employability • Increase engagement with the Youth in Action programme amongst B&ME communities in Europe
