Summary of the application for Erasmus 2015 KA1 project. Our school took part in the Erasmus KA1 mobility program. The title of the program was The practical and theoretical education in carpentry and building trade 2015.
The top priority of the project was to obtain professional training for underprivileged students and their teachers to insure appropriate training in shortage trades.
We chose the Zimmerer Ausbildungs Zentrum as a partner institution The working training schedule has been arranged and accepted by both partners.
There were 28 students and 3 supervising teachers (20 students are disadvantaged due to social status or learning difficulties.) 16 carpenters and 12 bricklayers in the program.
Before the program the students took part in extra curriculum to prepare for the time in Germany. They received a special workbook including language exercises and work related information. They also took part in practical studies and factory visits. At the end the students had been assessed.
The students mobility was held in 2015 October 5-25.
The students’ schedules for the three weeks were the following: two weeks experience in the training workshop and one week practice in a production area. The underprivileged students (20) received a special grant, that provided them with safety wear excepted in Germany.
During the two weeks in the workshop our students worked under German supervision helped by their own teachers.
The carpentry students learnt about roof structures and different joinery technics . They constructed special support systems , playhouses and toolboxes. They gained useful knowledge in different methods of planning and drawing. This knowledge is very useful for them in their further education.
The bricklayers had learnt about different wall building technics, base building and clay architecture. They learnt about how to calculate required amounts of materials. They practiced traditional and new bricklaying techniques. They have built concrete blocks and stress tested them. They also built steps and flower containers.
At the end of the project the students were tested and valued by the German marking system. Their two weeks work was included in the 6248-11, 6249-3, 6237-11, 6237-2 modules which is based on the ECVET’s agreement.
The disadvantaged students got extra help during the whole trip. Their teachers gave them special attention and helped them develop global thinking skills. They gained more knowledge, learnt new building skills, experienced the responsibility during work.
We also organised cultural programs for the students. We visited famous sites and buildings (Neuschwainstein castle, Ulm church, Füssen castle, …) to become more aware of the country’s heritage. We visited the Mercedes Museum which was an unforgettable experience for everyone.
We wrote a colourful article for our website (www.hefele.sulinet.hu) and shared our experiences with the local newspaper, radio station and television. During the project we put up to date photos of our experiences on our school’s facebook page.
Our experiences and gained knowledge will be used to improve our education programmes and motivate our student for further development, for their successful final exam and professional career. Our teachers will compile educational material in order to share new experiences.
The aim of our institute is to give the students more experience and up to date knowledge with the help of our mobility programs.
As a benefit of these programs, we already had some excellent results in different national and international competitions. Our two (underpivilaged) students Attila Felbert and Ádám Vidos, won bronze medal in Lille in 2014 in the EUROSKILLS competition and Viszkeleti Gergő won the Szakmasztár competition.
Students who took part in the program strongly emphasised their experiences gained during the program which gave them motivation to improve their skills further and become a highly skilled, professional craftsmen in the future.
The counterpart training school issued a certificate and a Europass mobility card for the participants. The agreement between the two institution states that the completed three week course can be accepted in the corresponding modules, furthermore, it counts as a summer work experience and as part of their term time.
Over all we can state, that our set goals have been reached on the professional level and language requirements.
