Facilitating Change - the Role of Youth Organizations in International Relations

Context and background
This project was born out of the idea that the young generation can have a great impact on international politics when given the right amount of space, empowerment and the tools to get the attention of the establishment and the public. By providing trainings and a seminar for a larger pubic to learn and discuss about facilitative leadership in this context we wanted to enhance the competences of the civil society to impact these developments and empower the active citizen to assume responsibility and show courage. The participants of this project were young people from Ukraine, Belarus, Poland, the Czech Republic, Romania and Germany who are interested in the current social and political developments in Ukraine and beyond.
The impact of the project is the emergence of an empowered and motivated group of people and organisations who are competent in facilitation techniques and have acquired the relevant knowledge and experience to act as a stakeholder with substantial significance in circles of international policy, international relations on different fields (youth work, cooperation between states, exchanges and democratic development).
The project consisted of four activities.
A1. Training "Facilitative Leadership Workshop - Macro Level" This four-day training aimed at offering an overview of what it means to facilitate learning and exchange within a larger group of peole. Participants received an intruduction to the concept of and can learn basic methods for discussion, dialogue, open space technology and asking the right questions to enhance creative capacity and design thinking.
A2. Training "Facilitative Leadership Workshop - Meso Level". The activity was aimed at deepening the knowledge and understanding of the participants in facilitation. It concentrates specifically on the facilitation of learning processes and exchange within seminar-groups. The training will present and try out methods such as Appreciative Inquiry and Consensus Workshop that participants can use in seminars and meetings of their own organisation.
A3. Seminar "Facilitating Change - Role of youth Organisations in International Relations - example Ukraine". This activity brought together 42 participants from six different countries in order to discuss the possibilities and responsibilities of youth organisations throughout Europe to influence international relations and even policy making through the method of facilitating seminars and exchanges. Through this activity participants got empowered to take the next step and international impact through learning methods, discussing best practices and receiving input from experts in the fields of facilitation, mediation and the specific region these organisations are working with.
A4. Training "Facilitative Leadership Workshop - Micro level". This training was the last step in the chain of activities that aims to convey a summary of the information of the previous seminars and concluding with giving participants an insight into facilitative leadership regarding complexity-based change and individual coaching.
