Fachbezogene Kommunikation in englischer Sprache zur Qualifikation von Kollegen für den bilingualen Sachfachunterricht
Date du début: 1 juin 2015, Date de fin: 31 mai 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The Marienschule introduced its Anglo-German bilingual stream in 1990. Students attend intensified English courses. In addition, they are taught three other subjects (biology, geography, history) in English. Having taken certain courses in the advanced classes the students receive an extra certificate with their school leaving certificate. The aim of the project was to improve bilingual teaching and the bilingual profile, to integrate current developments, and to offer projects in addition to bilingual learning in the classroom, all of which promote international developments at the Marienschule. In summer 2015 a colleague attended a CLIL-training course in GB. At her school the colleague is in charge of the development of bilingual teaching. In the training course she learned current methods of modern bilingual teaching. She also established contact to colleagues from other European countries; from this further projects may result. The project was realized in cooperation with the organization offering the training course. After the training course the colleague disseminated results among the colleagues teaching in the bilingual stream. Thus the whole stream profits from the training. The headmaster and the teaching staff discussed resulting perspectives for the bilingual stream. The long-term effects for the students of the school are primarily a more efficient bilingual teaching, which increases students' motivation to learn languages, to take part in additional language related projects and to open up to the idea of a united Europe. The results of the project are being used by the Marienschule. However, they were also presented at a conference of the bilingual schools in North Rhine-Westfalia so that many schools interested in the promotion of language learning have been informed.
