Face the Conflict
Date du début: 1 août 2014, Date de fin: 15 juin 2015 PROJET  TERMINÉ

We conducted a research on the topic of conflict resolution and concluded that organizations working with youths have different problem-solving and conflict resolution methods and no sufficient knowledge or understanding of how to solve interpersonal conflicts and promote peace. Last but not least, the research showed that a big number of people are not familiar with the methods and techniques of solving resolution, mediation and group facilitations. Therefore, we decided to promote mediation as an alternative dispute solving method that is widespread in the European Union. Our aim is to bring together 36 people working with youth, trainers and EVS coordinators / mentors with different experience of conflict solution from Lithuania, Romania, Italy, Spain, Bulgaria and Latvia and to train them in mediating disputes ( alternative methods of dispute solving) in order to strengthen a „peace network” that crosses religious, ethnic and geographical boundaries. Thus, enabling them to take an active stand in defending human right and contributing to the European peace and understanding. The project has as its objectives: -to promote European citizenship and raise the European awareness of participants -to improve language, conflict management and resolution skills -to tailor analytical processes for the specific purpose of mediation -to unveil the available tools that make interventions such as mediation effective, to provoke global solidarity and peaceful transformation of conflicts -to foster peaceful dialogue. Our training course is based on the methods of non-formal education. The project days will be filled with discussions, debates, theoretical inputs, presentations, case work, simulation games, analysis exercises, role-play, workshops, info session, board game and reflective activity which will take place in hotel "Zheravna" in Bankia. We believe our project will be beneficial to adult learners who want to increase their European awareness and knowledge about methods which will help them to easily solve conflicts. The project will also develop civic competencies. We will encourage the learners to become active citizens, to be interested in political, economical and legislative events, make their own opinions, express them and participate in the democratic life actively. It will develop the intercultural competencies of the participants . The activities will also develop social and interpersonal competencies of participants. They will learn to listen to the others, express their opinion, persuade the others, negotiate, work in a team and lead a team, cooperate and come to a compromise. Another benefit will be in terms of increasing the capacity of youth organizations to engage with issues of global solidarity and the peaceful transformation of conflicts. This will make them more active participants in society and to be interested in how to prevent disputes, make their own opinions, express them and participate in the peace-building and peace-making processes. 36 participants from all partner countries will have the chance to participate in training course which will provide them with basic knowledge in the field of mediation, conflict resolution and problem solving methods and techniques. Sharing experience and good practices among the participants and the trainers will improve the quality of the learning process and will deepen the informational capacity. We are expecting our participants to learn how to apply theoretical approaches in practice and how to deal with certain conflict circumstances in different fields. The impact for participating institutions will be in terms of creating stronger partnerships This will be a basis for future cooperation and follow-up projects. The project will increase the capacity of organizations to work on international projects. It will provide them with a new adapted methodology to use in their non-formal education activities. Finally, the project will provide added value to their regular educational activities and will be clearly related to the missions of all partners.
