Asociatia Bodvaj in partnership with MeneTrend Fejleszto Kozhasznu Egyesulet implemented the project ?Exploring Rurality ?, a youth exchange, which was organized in countryside, in a small village, Batanii Mici, Romania. In our project we hosted 24 participants from 2 countries: 8-8 participants from Hungary and Romania, 4 group leaders, 2 professional leaders and 2 support staff. Young people directly involved in project activities were between 16-30 years old. The venue of our youth exchange will be at the Youth Center in Batanii Mici. The youth exchange had 9 working days. The objective of the project was to foster mutual understanding between young people from the 2 different countries. The themes of our project were rural development and creativity and culture. During the workshops we promoted healthy lifestyle through cooking traditional foods based on raw materials from the nature and from the local farms and gardens and through building playground elements for children and youngsters. In the frame of the youth exchange we focused on four main activities: 1) Playground building: building 1 new complex playground item with 1 professional leader at the sport-ground of the village. 2) Experiencing the lifestyle of a local farmer: feeding animals, weaving, making iron decorations at the blacksmith, collecting apples and making jam, making zacusca, making bread, making cheese. 3) Experiencing local tastes: cooking traditional foods for every lunch during the youth exhange for all participants, making traditional cookies. 4) Visual ? photo and video ? documentation: preparing a small film about the project. During the youth exchange 2 youngsters uploaded photos about the previous day`s activities on the Facebook. The groups were rotating, thus everyone could experience almost every activity. During the youth exchange the activities were based on non-formal learning methods, and on the involvement of local young people, group leaders from partner organizations and handcraft people. The working methods used were highly interactive, focused especially on group activities: group buliding games, small workshops with participants from different nations.
