Exploitation of results of European ECVET initiatives for the creative professions of painting and varnishing trade and floristry

Since the Copenhagen Declaration of November 30th, 2002 the aim of the EU member states is to enhance transparency between the different systems of vocational education and training to promote the formation of a European labour market. Means to achieve this goal are the EQR, the respective NQRs and the credit point system ECVET. On December 12th, 2008 the European Parliament formally approved ECVET. Simultaneously the Directorate-General of the European Commission called for projects testing ECVET, which were in action since spring 2009. These 11 projects were testing the ECVET approach in particular sectors. The coordinator of this project was simultaneously a project partner in one of those ECVET projects (CREDCHEM – chemical sector), whereby results and experiences made there could be used by other sectors (in this case the vocational fields of painting, varnishing and floristry), adapted to the specific circumstances of the new sectors and added to the European ECVET discourse. The main goals of the project were the inclusion of the vocational fields of painting, varnishing and floristry into the ECVET trial process, the creation of preconditions for the testing of ECVET in the target sectors as well as the establishment of a learning environment for transnational project learning. The partnership included institutions of vocational education and training, competent bodies and professional associations. This combination provided for project results fulfilling the criteries of vocational education teaching as well as those of the labour market.
