Experiments with Electricity
Date du début: 1 mai 2015, Date de fin: 31 janv. 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

"Experiments with electricity" aims to learn some useful concepts on electricity in a funny way. The target are youngsters with fewer opportunities. "Experiments with electricity" is a Youth Exchange project among 13 young Spanish people (ages 14-16), and 13 youngsters from Rumania (ages 14-17) who suffer the consequences of living in areas with high rates of unemployment, and, in general, with high rates of immigration and highly stigmatized. The exchange will take place on June 2014 in Spain, in a youth camp in Sant Quirze de Besora (near Barcelona), a space in the midst of nature which facilitates the young people’s focus on the exchange’s activities. The aim of the exchange i to cheer these young people to become active agents in their communities by improving their self esteem and make them into experts in easy electricity for everyday life. The dynamics of the seminar will seek to focus on the needs of the group and shall include: activities, role plays and games which explore and incorporate the topic of Electricity trough experimentation and solving easy electric problems such as repairing small appliances like toasters. The sessions will be experimental and practical, with team activities and work in groups. Working from real situations in our youth organisations we shall work with formulas to have fun through learning tòpics on electricity. The methodology that we shall use comes from an educational model based on active-participatory education. It is intended for people to actively participate in their own learning from their experiences, perceptions, opinions, etc., at an individual and group level. Participation allows the young people to reflect on their reality (violence, racism, injustice, prejudice, causes, consequences, contradictions, etc.) and to look for alternatives at a group level. To work on electricity but also on all topics we’ll talk about during the exchange, we shall use the meaningful learning, based on Freire's methodology, which consists on participants evoking or working from their experiences as an effective way to learn and enhance skills. The project aims to have the participants growing their self esteem by learning new and very useful topics for their everyday life and offer them tools to communicate with the rest of the group. The project provides two groups of young people with few resources and different cultures the opportunity to meet and learn and share the situations they live, and, somehow, thus help them feel more European citizens. We would be recording the Workshops on “Experiments with electricity” in order to produce a short video which shall help in the dissemination and multiplying effect of the project.
