Special Secondary School Dej is a public institution for special needs learners. The school provides psychopedagogical assistance to 144 children with various disabilities and also offers support services to pupils with special educational needs in the mainstream schools in town, through specialized support teachers. The staff of the school consists of 50 teachers, many of them with an adequate university education in the field of special needs but there are also teachers of Religion, Music, Art, Physical Education, with basic competencies for teaching in special schools. Following the strategic objectives of the Institutional Development Plan and the European Development Plan, ``European Teaching Experiences in Special Education`` - a staff mobility project was initiated to respond to our staff development needs. Our main objectives are: development of foreign language competences, competences of planning and organizing the teaching process by using active methods in order to prevent the early leaving school; teaching competences` improvement including the use of ITC; an enhanced European awareness and opening to the European diversity and multiculturalism. Three teachers coming from different teaching commissions of the school, showed their interest and availability in the staff mobility project. The Commission for Programmes and International Projects supervises, monitors and assesses the project in school and the entire institution, not only on intern level but also on extern level will benefit of the trainings` results. The activity plan of the project includes, as a first step, the preparation of the participants for the mobilities: a linguistic, profesional, intercultural, logistic preparation and collaborative work with European colleagues attending the courses. The mobilities follow and the topics of the courses are: Action Methods Improving Motivation and Quality in Learning Environments, Special Needs Children, Current Issues in Education – Early School Leaving. The acquired and improved knowledge, skills, attitudes, good practices will be disseminated in our institution to the teachers and pupils and also in the proximate school environment in order to achieve a significant impact, with visible and measurable outcomes. A dissemination plan including activities in order to promote the project and its results among teachers, pupils and community is designed. Presentations will be made, workshops will be held, events will take place and mentoring programs will be organized. The community will be informed about the project through a brochure, mass-media communicates and through the news on the school`s social network websites, through various activity reports for our superior legal entities. By using different tools – Gantt diagram, questionnaires, statistics, SWOT analyses, etc. – evaluation activities will be carried out to assess whether and to what extent the project has reached its objectives. Improved competences for staff and pupils, better marks/ scores for the pupils, enhanced motivation and participation to school activities and a low early leaving school will demonstrate the impact of the project. Concrete results as the brochure including practical and theoretical knowledge acquired at all the trainings of the project, new curricula which implements adapted good practices shared at the courses, partnership protocols as outcomes of our collaborative work in Europe will certify the efficiency of the project at personal, professional and institutional level. The teachers` long term benefit from the project will be reflected by their personal and professional development. They can make use of their new competences - knowledge, skills, attitudes - in various contexts during their entire teaching career. Our pupils will develop positive attitudes towards work, integration, tolerance, multiculturalism in European Community, on a long term, as a result of the innovative teaching practices adapted and implemented in the school. Based on the disseminated and multiplied results of the project, our institution will become a teaching resource in the region, with a superior quality status.
