The medico-social support service for disabled people (SAMSAH) from Arceau Anjou, Service of disability Unit of Mutualité Francaise Anjou Mayenne aims to meet portuguese partners on the following theme : the support of helpers.
Services of Arceau Anjou support about 500 people with disability due to an acquired brain injury (brain injury, stroke or other cerebral disorder) throughout various services according to the needs of people and their personnal projects. these services, located in Angers, are today the reference at national level.
SAMSAH of Arceau Anjou, provides medical and socio medical services in mainstream, in daily activities, to favor the choice of home maintenance. These interventions cover different dimensions : rehabilitation, autonomy needs evaluation, compensation, inclusion, and psycho-socio-emotional support.
This theme : the support of helpers, is particularly sensitive because it concerns the complexity of dimensions between hospital environnement and daily living areas. Numerous of skills have to be mobilized after hospitalization and rehabilitation, because disabled people, their relatives, professional helpers have to deal with health consequences with a huge impact and limitations on the quality of life, the inclusion and the health process of people.
Main objectives of this mobility are :
• To know more about the various way of support of people with acquired brain injury, from initial point of care to the different orientations and their organization.
• To identify factors of complexity in the articulation of hospital and home and opportunities to facilitate the transition for a better quality of life.
More specifically, about helpers :
• To have more knowledge about procedures and policy of support for helpers (professionals and non professionals) at home.
• To identify the main non professional helpers and the different forms of existing supports.
• To identify the "win win" processes, to preserve the home maintenance and the participation of relatives.
• To identify (if possible), projects, studies, contributing to develop existing methods/tools, with innovative projects, but also trainings for helpers and support actions.
6 professionasl are involved for this project of mobility, SAMSAH head manager, the doctor, and 4 professionals for whom their jobis in directy connection with the difficulties of helpers (social workers, psychologist, ...)
The managing staff wil prepare the mobility (administrative formalities, bookings...). Work time will be organized before the mobility with professionals to prepare the exchanges and visits, in addition with phone calls metings, skype and e-mails. The head of manager will manage the participants during the mobility.
The mobility will be organized on 5 days, 3 of them focused on visites with services and organizations supporting acquired brain injury people (rehabilitation centre of Porto), and on exchanges with multidisciplinary teams ; but also, presentation of research studies in neuropsychological rehabilitation and quality of life. The program is planning also meetings with local key actors (association of families, peers groups...).
All these visits will be followed by work time and exchanges on best practices, innovative areas to favor the inclusion, the autonomy and in research.
The head manager will check the knowledge of participants, with written minutes, and time of exchanges, in addition to the visits.
this project will give the opportunity to professionals to develop their skills in term of know-how in the fields of support of helpers, and to maintain an ongoing process of improvement of support procedures.
This mobility will help to develop individual or collective support to helpers (family) with SAMSAH or other services in Arceau Anjou. It will contribute to the dynamism of international projects in the future.
