Scouts Kriko-M is interested in participating in an exchange program with the Macedonian scouts of Ohrid . Our plan is to live at least 5 days side by side. During these five days we will do activities together, cook together, eat together,… We are hoping that after five days these two groups melted together in one big group.Scouts Kriko-M was founded in 1942. We exist for over 73 years and there is still more to come. The eldest group of the Belgian scouts who are part of this exchange are with 16 members and 4 leaders. The age of this group varies between 15 and 17 years old(male+female). Most of the members have been a long time in this group and they know each other very well. Our members are looking forward to this exchange.The scouts from Ohrid are founded in 1996. This isn’t such a long time and maybe we can help them by explaining how our scouts operates and hopefully we can also learn something from them. The exchange group from the Macedonian scouts are with 17 members(male+female) with the age of 15-17. It seems like a qualified group to exchange with.Our exchange-theme is ‘scouts basics’. Previously we mentioned that our scouts is 73 years old. Some of our rituals got lost in progress. Therefore we want to refresh our rituals and techniques. We’ll plan activities like sjorren ( tie bearer together), making different nods, how to make fire, to read maps, we also are going to walk for two days in the mountains learning to survive. During this hiking-trip we go back to basics. You have to rely on skills and convert your knowledge in practice. You have to find a place to sleep, you have to make fire when you want something to eat,… When you are hiking with such a big group it’s very important that you stick together as a group. Eventually we will all have to help each other. This hiking part will be very exhausting but it’ll be all worth it at the end!We hope to pass on knowledge and scout techniques to the next generation and hopefully they will honor our rituals. And one day they will be able to pass their knowledge on too. We’d like to teach them important life lessons about mutual respect .
