"EXCELINGUISM IN SOLANA. PHASES I AND II " This is a two-year school project whose main objective is to improve linguistic competence in English of its teachers, doing language training, both abroad and in-school, providing assistance and support to get CEFR qualifications. It is also sought to enhance linguistic competence with the use of CLIL methodology and its application in the classroom. To improve this methodology, teachers will attend training courses abroad, both in the summer and during the academic year. A collaborative group will also be created at school in order to work in unison with a thoroughly-specified guide and a well-planned schedule to make the most of this useful cooperative tool. eTwinning platform will be used in the development of this project. We consider the training actions that will be carried out are as important as the coordination of them. Teamwork will lead to the consolidation of a more cohesive teaching team and a better performance as a group. We start this project with the full support of both secondary and vocational training teaching staff and departments. We consider this is an excellent starting point to achieve the goals we have set. With these actions we intend to extend our current bilingual section of compulsory secondary to non-compulsory secondary studies (Bachillerato) in 2015-2016 and to our vocational training studies in 2016-2017 (hence the title of Phases I and II). We also aim at obtaining a certificate of excellence as a school immersed in the European dimension. The development of this project will be as follows: 2014-2015. Phase I: - Training abroad - CLIL Methodology - Preparation of materials - eTwinning Platform - Application for bilingual “Bachillerato”. 2015-2016. Phase II: - Extension of bilingual departments and teachers - Training abroad - Consolidation of CLIL methodology - Design of teaching materials - eTwinning Platform - Application for intermediate vocational training bilingual programme. From the very beginning, we will seek the involvement and support from the school community for the successful development of this project through the dissemination of the materials developed through different channels: radio, television, press, meetings with primary and secondary schools in our area, using the eTwinning platform, our school website and the blog we share with primary schools in La Solana. All materials generated will be available to the entire educational community and all schools in our area. The ultimate goal of this project is to increase the quality of our teaching- learning process, and the employability and mobility of our students in their adult lives as professionals and European citizens through the educational improvement we are determined to achieve.
