EVS in der Gemeinnützigen Kinderförderungs GmbH, 2016/2
Date du début: 1 août 2016, Date de fin: 31 janv. 2018 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The non profit "Kinderförderungs GmbH" attends to around 40 mentally and multiple disabled children. Their aim is to empower the children and give them as much independence as possible in order to prepare them for their ladult life. Our italian volunteer (f, 19 years old) can gain experience first by precise observations and sensitive reactions to the individual children and later by getting an own routine in attending to "special" persons. In this demanding field, soft skills are realized and improved, but they also get to know professional cycles, nursing activities and pedagogical methods in a social institution in Germany. This offers a wide range of reflection and learning processes: starting by "working with an induvial person" as well as the social politics of one country and the European Union. In pedagogical EVS-seminars and during a media workshop on European topics in Berlin, offered by VIA e.V., the participants can reflect on their experiences and gain new knowledge which can be used to shape a strong and peaceful Europe. The volunteers come with their own cultural and individual background and introduce this in their work and leisure. By doing so the children and colleagues, as well as the volunteer, experience elements of a vivid transcultural diversity. In the long-term we expect that our volunteers take the impulses, which they get by working as a European volunteer, with them and they grow with others and become disseminator for an active citizenry in Europe. Who cared for - and attended to disadvantaged people with all their needs and interest, can give a different and very important perspective in a discussion about social values that others without this experience don’t have. Especially by continuing those topics during the seminars, their experiences can be discussed on a political level, what is a good basis for a strong European society.
