PROJET
TERMINÉ
Eolas Soileir are planning this two week short term Group Erasmus+ EVS for 10 young people (aged between 18 & 30) from five international partners. We want to further enhance our developing learning centre in rural Ireland and provide a quality short term EVS experience for 10 young people with fewer opportunities from Europe. Our main emphasis this year is to construct a 1916 Commemorative Garden. The objectives of the project are to:Provide an intercultural non-formal learning experience on a European level for young people with fewer opportunities. That the activities are designed to help the volunteer improve their social and practical skills. To support the volunteer’s daily activities which will be in the field of the environment and cultural heritage. To provide activities that will have a strong learning dimension. The benefits to the young people will be their increased mobility within EU, enhanced language development, intercultural learning, increased employability, an increased knowledge of Ireland’s heritage, an appreciation of the outdoors, and its positive impact on mental and physical health. The volunteers will experience huge learning through the opportunity to experience life in a different country, to learn about another culture & heritage and will develop workplace skills to as well as other personal and social skills. This project will build upon the success of a two previous group EVS projects. Eolas Soileir is a volunteer ngo/charity that is developing a non-formal learning centre in rural Ireland. To date there has been four volunteer projects (two with EVS and two with Voluntary Service International) that have a strong learning dimension for the volunteers who are helping in the development of the centre. As part of the project the volunteers will be constructing a 1916 Commemorative Garden at the venue and remembering our countries history through a place of beauty and tranquility, of optimism and peace. This will be coupled with day to day work on the venue, digging, planting, working in the polytunnel, painting, clearing and sorting of recyclable materials. All this is building on our previous EVS projects connection with Irish heritage where once again we will visit heritage sites locally to connect with local community groups who are involved through their community with the development of these sites, for example Tintern community gardens and Hook lighthouse. As our organisation promotes sustainability and permaculture we promote the use of permaculture principals within this project. The results of this project will be an opportunity for young people with fewer opportunities to have: * an intercultural non-formal learning experience on a European level.* With activities that are designed to help the volunteer learn social and practical skills* With activities that respond to needs identified within our organisation and the wider community. * The volunteer’s daily activities which will be in the field of the environment and cultural heritage will be supported. * With activities that will have a strong learning dimension, and which are agreed by all partners in the project. The results for the HO and SO will be a strong partnership for this and future projects. The results for the HO will be development of their learning centre and a strong link with local partners. The results for the SO will be young people who have gained competences and will serve as an example for other young peopleThe results will be a tangible project – a commemorative garden! The impact of this project for the participants will be a project where they will:*learn about other cultures *meet new people*gain self-esteem and confidence *become more independent*improve practical and social skills *take on responsibility*do something they can take pride in *help others*contribute to the local community *feel needed*travel *learn a new language*move outside their comfort zone *increased mobility within the EU,*enhanced (own) language development, *increased employability* appreciation of the outdoors and its positive impact on mental and physical health. The impact for the HO and SO will be stronger partnership development. The impact for the HO will be a sustained involvement of international volunteers in their centre. The impact for the SO will be returned volunteers who will carry on with the learning pathway. The longer term benefits of this project will be for the volunteers:Their increased mobility within EU, enhanced language development, intercultural learning, increased employability, appreciation of the heritage and the outdoors and its positive impact on mental and physical health. For the HO will be continued development of their learning centre through sustainable methods and ideology and building of strong local, national and international links. And for the SO will be strong p/ships for future projects.
