EVS Dobele II

DYIHC was thinking about hosting EVS volunteers and last year for the first time hosted two volunteers from Germany and Italy and that was amazing and meaningful experience that gave DYIHC employees and youngsters a chance to learn about other cultures, languages and gave experience working with partners from other countries. That's why we want to continue this kind of learning experience by hosting EVS volunteers again and having a chance to learn about their culture and gaining new experience from new partner organizations. We decided to host a volunteer from England. That`s why Project "EVS DOBELE" was continued by project "EVS DOBELE II", which was submitted and approved by the Youth International Programme Agency. Main aims of the project is: *trough non-formal learning and informal learning develop competences of volunteers *promote healthy lifestyle and useful ways to spend leisure time *promote and increase social inclusion In the project participated 22-year-old girl Amy Ann Clohessy from England, which was active, initiative rich and ready to engage in various activities at DYIHC. Amy arrived in Latvia for 12 months, but in reality spent here nine months of 2015,from the 3rd of February 2015, until the 7th of November 2015. Together with center specialists Amy led non-formal education classes about healthy lifestyles, European Voluntary Service, career growth opportunities in schools, kindergartens and youth center during her volunteering in Latvia. She led by creative workshops for young people with fewer opportunities and disabilities, organized activities in leisure youth center for children and young people from social risk families, as well as led improvisation theatre master classes , participated and helped in summer camps for children and youth. Amy took part in workshops, events and camps both in planning and organizing and evaluation. During the project, Amy Ann has taken the lead, wrote the project "International evening" which she submitted in the local municipal project contest. The project was approved and in September the event “International evening” took action, in which participants learnt about culture of other countries, traditions and national cuisine. The event was attended by volunteers from Spain, Portugal, Italy, France, England and Austria, who at that time worked in various Latvian organizations as volunteers and by local youth from Dobele district (total of 50). The event was managed successfully, because the visitors were very satisfied with what they have seen, heard and experienced. Amy used non-formal education methods, adventure pedagogy techniques, improvisational theater techniques in her activities. By implementing the project "EVS DOBELE II" Dobele youth leisure activities were upgraded and social inclusion was promoted. Working in international environment, youngsters from different countries were met, different languages and cultures were learnt. During the project, Amy developed her skills and abilities at work, training and leisure time. Whereas the local young people learned more about the European Voluntary Service and the Erasmus +. The impact and result of project is that local youngster interest about EVS has increased. At present, one girl from Dobele being prepared. .
