The exchange was an international youth forum promoting Active European Citizenship and the concomitant rights by means of boosting youth-driven initiatives and entrepreneurship. The event gathered together young people from the EU and Eastern Partnership Window countries and stimulated their proactive participation in decision making processes through the use of experiential learning methodology. The project applicant has been cooperating for a long time with the partners in a range of empowerment projects and have acquired a vast experience in this field, particularly in the organisation of multinational meetings, training sessions and exchange programmes aimed at enhancement of active community living, stimulation of youth entrepreneurship and promotion of dynamic youth citizenship education. The previously accumulated experience and the strong bonds developed between the parties were applied in this project to create favourable environment for the intercultural learning (ICL) process with participation of young people with migrant background (18-25 years old) and peer leaders. The exchange developed positive attitudes and useful skills both in young people from a migrant background and peer leaders, which can further be used for improvement of European citizenship education and popularisation of experiential learning principles and youth entrepreneurship as approaches effectively applied in non-formal education. In the course of the exchange, the participants explored new ways for different networks and organisations to play a more challenging and meaningful role in building new inclusion opportunities for youth with migrant background. Approaching and exploring the issues of youth entrepreneurship and Active Citizenship Education within the framework of EU neighbourhood policy as well as the use of experiential learning methodology made the project an innovative one. The exchange was held in Gomel (Belarus) and brought together 48 male and female participants (young people and youth leaders) from the UK, Russian Federation, Azerbaijan, Lithuania, Belarus and Romania for 10 days (excluding travel days). The exchange was attended by peer leaders and young people interested in or already using the topic of citizenship education in their activities and motivated to improve their skills in citizenship education through experiential learning. The target group was mostly composed of young people experiencing exclusion and facing certain economic, social and educational challenges. Given that these young people do not possess sufficient resources to participate independently in international youth events the Erasmus + Programme is a good solution for providing them with an educational international experience. The exchange facilitated social and cultural integration of young people from migrant backgrounds and encouraged the spirit of entrepreneurship in them. The results of the activities implemented by young leaders and youth workers during the exchange will be useful for further promotion of the experiential learning methodology as an approach for European youth citizenship education. The project showed that young people valued such an experience. During the exchange, the participants developed innovative approaches to Active European Citizenship. This innovative aspect of thinking opened up further opportunities for them. They were able to reconsider the existing obstacles standing on their way of achieving their desired educational outcomes in promoting the Active European Citizenship at the local level and in implementing other projects.
