Project #europeanfilmchallenge is an interactive and viral project that incorporates the use of innovative and digital promotional techniques and tools and helps European films to circulate of on different viewing platforms. The project challenges the audiences (with a natural particular focus on young audiences) to watch 10 European films on different available platforms (cinema, VOD, TV, etc.), make a public announcement of the title, used channel, proof image and a hashtag #europeanfilmchallenge and after a certain period (3 months) selects the winner, offering a valuable reward (travel, accreditation and subsistence in one of the main International film festivals).All the participants with the help of monitoring social networks will be evaluated according to the preliminary criteria (e.g. diversity of film origin, diversity of viewing platforms, extra points for debut films, etc.) that will be announced beforehand. Participation in #europeanfilmchallenge will not be a technical challenge as sharing the experience is a natural state of mind of young audiences. The project will be promoted in The Baltic States and internationally in 3 local languages and English. In future it could be developed on a global scale. Project #europeanfilmchallenge will mainly use social networks as a promotion and communication platform as well as presentations to industry members during international regional events (presentations of project in Vilnius International Film Festival, Black Nights Film Festival in Tallinn and Baltic Sea Forum in Riga). However most of the activities and advertising will be directed towards the wide audiences and it will be fully participatory and appealing to younger audiences.#europeanfilmchallenge will not only promote and raise the overall interest in European audiovisual works but it will actively engage wide audiences to take part in the game and social events, discover available European content on different platforms and become active users.
