European Universities Games 2014 Rotterdam
Date du début: 1 juin 2014, Date de fin: 31 mai 2015 PROJET  TERMINÉ

This summer, more than 270 teams (2.700 students') from more than 30 European countries will come to Rotterdam to participate at the 2nd European Universities Games (EUGames). This event will be organised by the Foundation 2nd European Universities Games Rotterdam 2014.The 18-day event will feature trainings and competitions for men and women in 10 sports: Badminton, Basketball, Football, Futsal, Handball, Rowing, Rugby 7's, Table Tennis, Tennis and Volleyball.Using the event we want to promote inclusion and non-discrimination at a wider level, and more specifically tackle prejudices and obstacles in sport related to gender equality. LGBT. social inclusion, disability, dual careers, etc. The event will therefore include workshops and seminars addressing these topics. All activities will be for men and women, and we will have a gender-balanced participation. To ensure inclusion of participants with disabilities, a special sporting competition will be organised as a pilot project - wheelchair tennis is proposed.Linking the sports competitions to education and training, and adding a sport competition for the disabled participants will undoubtedly contribute to the visibility, awareness and better understanding of the importance to address the special needs of some target groups and to the implementation of European values of diversity, inclusion and non-discrimination.Impact is reached through:• The participants: apply the good practices in their national / regional environments, contributing to equal opportunities in sport and fair play throughout Europe;• European institutions: use the outcomes to evaluate and improve European policies, programmes and activities;• Future organisers of international sport events: learn from the EUGames by taking into account the lessons learnt at this event (related to e.g. volunteer management, the disability pilot, equal opportunities). The outputs will include diverse reports, publications, press releases and conferences.
