The project will revolve around the design, preparation and organisation of a Higher Education Funding Forum to be held in June 2012. The objective of the project is to create a broad, inclusive European platform to discuss and share experiences related to funding in higher education, and establish best practices in the field in the context of financial constraints. The Forum will be used to further disseminate recent and current work and studies on designing sustainable funding systems, including among others the role and opportunity of cost-sharing and funding incentives in promoting diversity of academic profiles in higher education.The Forum will gather a large number of stakeholders (aim: 200 participants) to discuss funding in higher education.The Programme Committee will design the structure of the Forum on the basis of the three pillars of financial sustainability in higher education (Identifying full costs; diversifying income; sustainable funding models). The Committee will examine and select papers and case studies to be presented during the forum following the launch of a call for contributions. The selection will reflect, as far as possible, the diversity of funding systems and reforms across Europe. A selection of the best contributions to the forum will be published and widely disseminated in the European higher education community.The outcomes of the Forum will inform the European institutions of the views of the sector, while the Forum itself will foster communication among these stakeholders and help structure the higher education funding community at European level.The aim is to organise the Forum on a sustainable basis, creating a recognised platform for discussion in the sector.
