European Union, the Eastern Partnership & Russia in a New Geopolitical Context

The module provides innovative, policy-analysis oriented teaching on EU foreign policy, with a focus on EU relations with its Eastern neighbours, including Russia. It promotes dialogue and expertise-exchange among Polish and international scholars, policy-makers and wider public and fosters engagement of young academics in teaching and research in the field. Module Objectives:• Equipping students with knowledge of EU subjects relevant to their academic & professorial lives; as well as raising students’ awareness of the critical role the EU can play in determining the future geopolitical environment of Central Europe. • Fostering dialogue between the academic world and policy-makers in the area of EU Eastern policy & Transatlantic Partnership. • Giving grounds for a hub for EU foreign policy teaching, research and analysis within the new SGH School for Public Policy, thus assuring greater visibility of this field of study at the national (Polish) and regional (Central & Eastern Europe) levels.Module Activities:• Introduction of 2 new EU foreign policy courses (“EU Neighbourhood Policy & the Eastern Partnership” & “EU-Russia Relations - Redefined”) over 6 teaching semesters. • Organizing 3 panel discussions, opened to the wide public, on issues devoted the Eastern Partnership initiative & EU-Russia relations. • Organizing an international round-table for scholars, foreign policy experts and policy–makers to exchange expertise and recommendations on EU-Russia relations. • Co-publishing 2 articles with the World Affairs Journal in Washington D.C., as a result of the international round table proceedings. Module Outputs: • 240 hours/6 semesters of teaching in English of two EU foreign policy courses for around 240 students from SGH and other universities.• 1 international round-table, with participation of 30-40 experts from 10 countries• 3 open conferences/discussions, with total participation of 300 people• 2 articles in World Affairs Journal
