TERMINÉ
An operational grant to The European Union Studies Association (EUSA) would help to support and sustain one of the largest scholarly associations devoted to the interdisciplinary study of the EU in the world. EUSA was founded in 1989 and has more than 500 individual scholars as members. Although almost 40 percent of its members based in the U.S., EUSA has members in 37 other countries, including 22 EU member states, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Mexico and South Africa.EUSA is an interdisciplinary association that reaches out to scholars, teachers and students in the social sciences, business and law who have an active interest in developments in the EU. It also engages members of the business community, journalists, and policy makers. Its signature event is its international biennial conference, which draws around 500 participants to discuss state-of-the-art research on European integration and European politics and society. EUSA provides grants to support the participation of postgraduate students on panels with established scholars. EUSA publishes a journal, the EUSA Review, with original articles, book reviews, and news and announcements about EU studies. It also edits a biennial special issue of the Journal of European Public Policy containing a selection of the best papers from the conference. It maintains a public archive of all conference papers. EUSA recognizes excellence in EU scholarship by awarding prizes for the best book, best dissertation, and best conference paper. It also awards fieldwork travel grants to students. Ten member-based interest sections have been developed in response to the deepening of the field. EUSA's website (www.eustudies.org) contains valuable resources, and its members use the e-mail List Serve to post queries and announcements on researching and teaching EU studies. The grant would allow EUSA to develop its social media-presence, support member-directed workshops, and secure its fiscal foundation.
