European Union and the Law of the Sea
Date du début: 1 sept. 2014,
Date de fin: 31 août 2017
PROJET
TERMINÉ
The EULoS project primarily aims at establishing a summer school on European Union and the Law of the Sea to be offered for three consecutive years to law and non-law graduates and professionals (including political scientists, international relations specialists, civil servants and other public officers concerned with the increasingly important role of the EU in the law of the sea domain). The summer school will be alternatively held in Italy (first and third year) and in Germany (second year) in areas (Genoa and Bremen/Bremerhaven) that have traditionally very strong interdisciplinary maritime links, making it a potentially very attractive initiative for potential participants. The teaching staff will be of the highest calibre and will be drawn from academics, all law professors, established at the Universities of Genoa, the University of Bremen and the University of Applied Sciences Bremerhaven, all with a strong curriculum in international law, EU law, law of the sea, maritime law in general and law applied to new technologies and all with a significant national and international experience in dealing with research projects and publishing initiatives. The summer school will consist of an intensive one-week long course comprising 40 hours of teaching. Different teaching methods will be employed, ranging from traditional “ex cathedra” lectures to group works to a series of “public discussions” that will involve an interaction between a member of the teaching staff and invited experts, the possibility for participants to be involved in an open debate and the participation of external public. A study visit to a meaningful destination will also be organised each year. The main deliverable of the project will be represented by the publication of a collective book on “European Union and the Law of the Sea: General Aspects and Selected Focuses” with a well known academic publisher and further to a proper peer review process.
