With an ambitious schedule of public events like OpenLabs, performances, a festival and conferences, the ETL creates a digital strategy for Europe’s state theatres so that they can open their doors to new audiences, bringing theatre’s vitality and immediacy online and to new communities, including people new to Europe or theatre. Over the course of 2 years (10/2016-9/2018), the ETL offers a range of project activities, all conceived to:-Have maximum impact on a wide target audience-Expand access to theatre-Increase linguistic and cultural diversity -Bring theatre’s dynamism and digital innovations to new populationsETL activities include:-7 OpenLabs -3 creative co-productions -2 research conferences -1 virtual lab platform-1 final showcase-1 unified, EU-wide communications campaignThe ETL is a partnership between the EU-wide network European Theatre Convention (ETC) and 6 European state repertory theatres and an Advisory Board with experts from science, technology, media and the performing arts. To go beyond the theatre community, the project targets stakeholders from the creative, business and political sectors with the long-term aim of establishing public-private partnerships. As a cross-border, cross-sectoral European project, the ETL drives digital progress in the creative sector and influences EU policy. Moreover, it updates Europe’s rich theatrical tradition and brings it to new audiences – in Europe and beyond.
