European Start : Solutions through Tales and ART

Project "European START: Solutions through Tales and Art” united schools from seven countries - Lithuania, the UK, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Italy, Romania and Turkey- to share good practice and working toward a common goal which was solving teenagers' problems. Pupils were encouraged to find solutions themselves and help others. They produced memorable drawings and performances by transforming popular tales to show handling of such problems as bullying, addictions, demotivation, dangers in social networks. To ensure long-lasting results, we uploaded our results on etwinning, made a video of students’performances, organised a students' drawings exhibition, created a CD of drawing, multilingual brochure with best solutions and monolingual leaflet about dealing with problems. Communicating with foreign peers via video conferences and exchange of project materials on etwinning increased students’ learning motivation, provided them with foreign language practice and developed their IT skills. Project gave opportunity for students and teachers to travel abroad, experience European diversity and establish personal contacts with foreign project participants. So we created a brochure with advice for tourists. We promoted learning of Partnership languages and produced a Language Poster, multilingual phrasebook with key expressions for tourists, which we practiced at foreign exchanges. Comenius Dairy was used to document Comenius events and activities, we collected comments about the project and self-assessment of participants. Questionnaires were created to evaluate project quality. Community, i.e parents, representatives of other schools and municipality members - were invited to project activities to raise awareness to youth problems. We spread information about the project at school's and local events. Pupils became ambassadors of their own country, gained experience in undertaking trans-national partnership and promoted values of common Europe in their countries
