The project is promoted by the Institute of Vocational Education Giacomo Perlasca of Idro (Brescia, IT) in partnership with Tellus Group Ltd of Portsmouth (UK) and involves 20 students of the V° class (school year 2014/2015) of the course for social operator specialised in services for early childhood and disability. The opportunity for an internship abroad responds to the need to continue and insist on a path of personal, professional, and cultural growth for the students, resident in an alpine valley (Valle Sabbia) suffering from geographical isolation and economic downturn. The project has a total duration of 12 months (from 1st October 2014 to 30th September 2015) including intercultural and pedagogical pre-departure preparation, final evaluation and exploitation of the outcomes. The duration of the mobility period is 3 weeks: from January the 11th to January 31st, 2015. The internships consist in the placement of students in early childhood services and in services for the disabled in the town of Portsmouth, enabling rapid development of personal skills and professional attitudes. Intercultural exchange will also serve as a key element in enhancing the spirit of autonomy and initiative of the students.
