European Public Finance
Date du début: 1 sept. 2016, Date de fin: 31 août 2019 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The candidate Jean Monnet (JM) Chair holder in European Public Finance is currently the President of the Faculty Board of the first-level degree in Public Management (MAP), offered by the University of Milan (UNIMI), and he is promoting a rethinking and redesign of the course fostering a re-orientation towards the EU. Two main actions will be developed:1. A new core course in “Public finance and EU public policies” (60 hours) will reach 250 third-year MAP students and will guide them to understanding the role of governments in modern economies for increasing equity and efficiency when market fails and for defining common regulatory policies with a strictly European focus. By using Euromod, the tax-benefit microsimulation model for the EU, students will be introduced to EU-related public finance issues.2. A complete rethinking of the core teaching module in “Macroeconomics and Political Economics in the European Union” (50 hours) to guide 250 second-year MAP students through the understanding of modern macroeconomics, using a set of seminars, readings and invited lectures to redirect the main focus of macroeconomic analysis to EU-relevant issues. An expected output of the two actions will be innovative and high quality training in European economics at the undergraduate level, fostering the understanding of the EU economic policies and the formation of a new profile of civil servants and experts of public administration, with a deep knowledge of the EU key functioning mechanisms. At least ten seminars and a workshop will be organized on EU-related issues with policy makers, academic researchers and other stakeholders for exposing UNIMI students to the relevance of EU studies and to foster the dialogue between the academic world, policy-makers and civic society at large, improving awareness and attachment to EU common valuesThe quality of the JM Chair in European Public Finance will be assessed regularly by an Advisory Board including four JM Chairs.
