European postgraduate training course in clear communication
Date du début: 1 oct. 2011,
The project partners are all specialists in their fields. They will develop, pilot and implement the learning outcomes, competencies and modules for an innovative new postgraduate course in clear communication. The course blends what have up to now been separate disciplines: plain language, information design and usability in a unique manner. The demand for clear and easy-to-understand public information is growing rapidly due to:- high illiteracy levels in many EU-countries,- a strong call for democratisation, participation and active citizenship,- the demand for clear communication from (EU-)institutes,- the trend for countries to mandate clear communication in legislation. As proven by employment figures of graduated language consultants in the pioneer country Sweden, specialised education in plain language and design will offer graduates excellent business and job opportunities. By developing a strongly EU-oriented course, the partners offer an effective solution to the growing demand for clear information and the shortage of well-educated professionals with the right skills to produce it. From this foundation, the course can open the path to an internationally acknowledged professional certification. The course will:- meet EQF standards for higher education,- have mandatory modules on plain language, information design, usability, testing, project management and clear communication policy,- focus on multilingualism, with modules in English and in national languages,- have a specialised module on clear communication in EU institutes,- have other optional modules in specialised fields, depending on local societal needs (e.g. law, government, finance, health care, special audiences),- use innovative technology in the program delivery and support,- provide optimal (virtual) student and staff mobility.Dissemination and exploitation activities will occur throughout the entire duration of the project. Adopting the 'Plan-Do-Check-Act' cycle will assure quality.
