European International Communication Audit Scheme

In an effort to enhance the international competitiveness and effectiveness of SMEs, the project sets out to overcome their trade communication barriers (language/culture). The project focuses on the development of SME communication skills in Hungary, Poland and Spain. The project builds upon the success of the British-based Export Communications Review (ECR) scheme ‘Protocol’ which is currently being adapted in Iceland and Ireland. The results of the project proposal in Hungary, Poland and Spain will, in turn, feed into and enhance existing ECR project developments in these countries. At its core, the project will develop an operational ECR scheme for SMEs in Hungary, Poland and Spain and will establish a programme for the training of ECR scheme consultants. The ECR scheme will rely on a web-based toolkit that provides the required tools for the assessment of SME communication needs. As trained ECR consultants are essential for the effective delivery of business communication skills for SMEs, the project will recruit and train ECR consultants in 'communication' skills. Information for consultants will be delivered online, thus allowing for the rapid updating of resources, in appropriate languages, that are currently only available in paper format. Qualitative assessment and the validation of results are also key elements in the project. Dissemination will relay upon the project website, along with seminars/demonstrations, disseminating news of project progress and results.
