European Doctorate in Teacher Education

The proposed European Doctorate in Teacher Education (EDiTE) improves synergies between EHEA and ERA, stimulates and enhances progression of scientifically qualified teacher educators, to meet the needs of the wider European labour market (teacher mobility), towards a transversal teacher education strategy (see Bologna, Bergen and London Communique).It contributes to the modernisation of HE by design of an integrated course for an international and multilingual student body. It generates an advanced European-level specialist qualification, a new generation of professionals working across national boundaries. It lends added value to the European Higher Education Area with The full cooperative development of an integrated course of study by academic leaders adds value to the EHEA.EDiTE delivers - blended learning curriculum - report on piloting the curriculum- A study guide with module descriptions, learning aims, forms of assessment, student support guidelines and governance provisions- Agreement and recognition procedures and quality assurance mechanisms incl. with monitoring tools - Formative and summative internal/ external evaluation reports of the project - Information and dissemination activities (website, brochure, presentations, etc.) and an end-of-project conference report Impact - sustainability - Strengtheninghuman resources and academic standing by developing transferable skills and enhancing employability in the teacher education sector and strengthening Europe’s research capacity- contribute to the enhancement of doctoral studies in TE- Re-stocking the European scientific community for TE as the foundation for evidence-based transversal education policy- polyvalent networks/ multipliers contributing to the broader European integration agenda- Providing an example of EHEA good practice in inter-institutional cooperation between countries and universities and agencies in Europe - Projected implementation from 2014 as joint programme
