The migration background of many of our students frequently leads to situations where everyone would benefit from a more extensive intercultural competence. It can also be observed that many young people are still very reluctant to realize and actually use their personal and professional opportunities in the globalized world of today. This is where we intended to step in with a project aimed at using specially designed intercultural training courses to enhance our students' core competences as well as to encourage their open-mindedness towards our social and cultural diversity within the European dimension. This is both part of our school program and of our quality development plan. Four of our colleagues whose teaching expertise covers all of our school's educational departments took part in various courses in Great Britain dealing with different aspects of cultural diversity. Their new insights into relevant contents and methods were then used as a basis for tailor-made intercultural workshops and training courses for all of our students. Following an introductory course for all our colleagues to raise their awareness of the necessity of intercultural skills as well as providing some basic information on the subject and some preliminary exercises, the specially designed workshops for all of our students are to be realized in the new school year 2016/17. We thereby intend to support our students' personal and professional development into responsible and tolerant European citizens who are interested in and able to deal well with cultural differences and diversity. Following the implementation of these courses, an evaluation process will provide some further information with regard to their contents and their effect. This report should be available in early 2017.
