Associação Social Recreativa Juventude de Vila Fonche/Juventude is a youth association that works on a daily basis with more than an undred kids and youngsters. Everyday we try to develop activities that improve the knowlegment and contribute for the social and professional development of our target group through no formal education methods/technics.
However, in recent years , we have witnessed a lack of participation of our youth in the problems that our community is facing. So, we aim to develop a new project under the Erasmus + program, which is capable of providing new experiences and to give new skills to all its stakeholders.
During this project we intend to give the gift of speech to all participants and, together, portray different issues that concernes the European Youth. All young people are invited to express their main concerns and enumerate a set of issues that they want to address. 5 themes will be selected and, through the composition of multicultural groups, each group will be responsible for creating a short film about one of this topics.
With this exchange , we aim to :
- Creating moments of reflection about the youth's role in Europe;
- Encourage young people to take an active part in European Citizenship;
- Acquisition of new skills that bring added value for the future of all participants;
- To provide the local community the opportunity to participate in activities that have a social and community interest;
- Promote a space where is possible to share traditions and be together, providing the understanding of cultural diversity;
- Facilitate social and cultural interactions;
- Promoting sharing, socializing and learning moments to enrich the work of participating associations;
- Foster the exchange and cooperation of young people from different countries.
We intend to rely on the cooperation of 5 rather mixed youth groups and from different European countries (Portugal, Spain, Czech Republic, Hungary and Italy). Each group will be composed of two boys and two girls, to ensure gender equality, aged between 15 and 18, and a group leader with more than 18 years.
We intend to have young participants from unstructured familiar contexts , with socio-economic difficulties and low educational achievements .
During the exchange, participants will have moments of individual and group reflection where they can express their views about Europe and issues related to European Youth. Work will be undertaken in multicultural groups, with the objective of creating short films and exploitation of this interculturalism .
There will be dinners and cultural evenings (open to the community) allowing the exchange of experiences between the participants and the local community, as well as the sharing of best associative practices.
The activities will be based on non-formal education methods and techniques (icebreakers, energizers, role play, plenary discussions, etc.), and participants will be guided by a team of experts responsible for drafting the exchange and its leaders. Every day evaluation sessions will be held in group or individual allowing the learning follow up and also adapt the program content to the needs of participants .
The presentation of short films will be used as a dissemination activity of the final results of the exchange. This activity will be open to the entire community and will feature several local government entities.
Subsequently, all results will be sent to all partners so that they too can explore the short films with their communities and their youngsters.
We hope that young people begin to have a more active role in their communities, that the acquired skills are important tools for inclusion and at the same time added value for their professional future. These statements are in agrement with the objectives set by the Europe 2020 strategy, whose main pillars , directed to young people is reducing the educational dropout rate below 10% and the promotion of social inclusion, particularly of young people from households struggle with many socio-economic problems.
We hope that in the future the young participants have a more active role in their community, acquiring skills that are important tools of inclusion and become more value to their professional future.
