Europass Language Passport DissEmination ToolS NetworK

The proposed project (ELP-DESK) will seek to develop tools and initiatives todisseminate and exploit the European Language Passport (ELP) and the associatedlanguage portfolio across the broad LifeLong Learning community, in particularLeonardo and Grundtvig target groups. The project activities include events, actions andinitiatives to promote and publicise the Passport to the potential users: through theworkplace, in leisure and free-time, in cultural and social meeting places, at relevanteducational conferences, congresses and fairs, in seminars/meetings providing practicaladvice on how to start and use a ELP. Further, a web-portal with a help-desk service willprovide all the relevant information and support, while special tools (multi-media, audiovisualresources, software applications, hardware devices, etc.) will allow target groupsauthentic, practical experience in realising their own Passports. Moreover, through thepossible didactic implementation of the ELP in training courses, the resource could offerthe opportunity to include proof and evaluation of formal and non-formal learning in anindividual’s curriculum. The network partners should seek, then, to become the in-field local/regional extensionsof the existing National Europass Centres or Points of Reference in promoting use anddissemination of the ELP. Subsequently, the infrastructure and materials developedcould be easily exported to other countries and possibly to other areas of VETqualification. The primary target groups are working adults aiming for professional, vocationallyorientedlinguistic qualifications (Leonardo programme beneficiaries) and those, including disadvantaged and excluded groups and minorities, looking to present andextend their linguistic skills and qualifications for employment of cultural development(Grundtvig programme beneficiaries). Nevertheless, organisations and bodies who needto understand and assess linguistic expertise (potential employers, authorities, traininginstitutions, etc.) are also addressed. The project will seek to showcase ELP through tools and initiatives to improve thetransparency of linguistic qualifications, encourage language learning and promote anopen learning environment for all citizens.
