From September/October 2016, we would like to receive 3 volunteers at the CFB within the framework of EVS.These volunteers will participate in the CFB’s active local and international life, get involved in the local community as well as coordinating international projects. The CFB team is an extremely collaborative one allowing each and every one of us to take part in many varied activities. Apart from this general framework, our three voluntary services will concentrate on the sectors of job mobility office, youth exchange projects and PR.The main objectives of our project are:- reinforce cultural diversity at the CFB: as a place dedicated to youth and culture, an international and cosmopolitan culture is very important for our daily work- involve the local community: visit schools, offer activities at nearby retirement home, garden with neighbours in our collective garden- young volunteers who commit themselves to our activities, helping us organize our cultural and educational life and, of course, participate in it themselves.As for our volunteers, we are open to all backgrounds, including persons with fewer opportunities. Our volunteers should show a distinct interest in international cooperation and should be open to working with people of different backgrounds, ages, religions, and persuasions. We would like to work with young people who are enthusiastic and full of new ideas and who love what they do. In turn, we can offer them many new experiences and a rich panoply of activities and new skills acquired, all under the supervision of professional mentors.According to their profiles and interests, our volunteers will help us communicate about the work and the programmes of the CFB (social networks, website, newsletter, visit by local partners like schools or social centres, etc.). They will help us organize big cultural or educational events (Fête de la Francophonie, Berlinale, network "Diversity and Participation"), support us by conducting youth exchanges or other educational projects, take care of our urban garden, help welcome artists for residencies at the CFB, support us logistically, take pictures during our events, etc.).The methods used to receive young volunteers are:- continuous mentoring by our experienced staff; regular talks and mid-term as well as final evaluation- mind map to establish goals and objectives of the individual and how these match the activities proposed by the CFB- Youth Pass, FGYO certificate if applicable- collaborative style of work, close contact with all members of staff and sharing of experiences in all fields of work (coordination, mediation, translation, networking)- observation of tasks alongside an experienced professional before carrying out similar tasks one one’s own- participation in intercultural trainings and events to improve skill setOne year abroad is a fantastic experience for young people. Above and beyond the general learning effects (experiencing something different, discover something about oneself, finding one's own purpose), the participants can acquire or improve many different skills and gain numerous new insights at the CFB:- discover intercultural pedagogical methods and tools for intercultural learning by helping organize intercultural exchanges, accompanying youth projects, taking part in intercultural trainings- develop social skills by meeting many different people from different backgrounds (social differences, age gaps, persons with disabilities etc.). Most of our projects are collective; meaning that they promote collective thinking, compromises and solidarity and tolerance among participants.- gain work experience through one-year volunteer programme accompanied and mentored by trained professional staff - sensitization to cultural education as the CFB is also a place with an active cultural life (theater, cinema, artist residencies)- team work and solidarity between colleagues and volunteers is one of the assets of the CFB.The long-term effects of this project can be measured on three levels: the volunteers, the CFB and the local community. For the volunteers, spending one year with us will contribute to an increase in flexibility, openness, tolerance, self-confidence and autonomy, as well as provide them with an important skill set in the field of international cooperation.For the CFB, receiving and accompanying young volunteers from abroad will contribute to a larger understanding of interculturality, let alone the incredibly positive impact of a young, enthusiastic newcomer with a fresh view on our activities who can contribute new ideas and help us improve our work for European and international understanding.Finally the local community will greatly benefit from meeting and working with a young person from abroad who will embody internationality and interculturality, broaden their horizons and inspire them to become more involved in the work that we do.
