Europäische Sprachen - Schlüssel für europäische Bürger (ESSB)
Date du début: 1 juil. 2014, Date de fin: 30 juin 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The project „European Languages – key for European citizens” (ESSB) is taking place at the Privatschule Regina Stein. The Privatschule Regina Stein is a non-profit institution situated in Nuremberg. It is a school for special needs with a focus on emotional and social development with pupils that are especially endangered in their school career. The age range of the pupils lies between 6 and 14 years. They are being offered education consistent with the Bavarian syllabus for primary and secondary schools, as well as a wide range of outer curriculum activities in the afternoon. The children are being taught by primary and secondary school teachers, remedial teachers, a psychologist and several certified pedagogues. A focal point of the school is European Education. Comenius projects have taken place. With the project ESSB the school wants to contribute to the EU strategy 2020 educational area and to further European educational agendas. There is a need for further education within the staff regarding European foreign languages. The ESSB project is to counteract this fact and the following aims are to be achieved: - Language competence of the staff and competence of didactics and methodic of foreign language teaching in English is to be improved - The Staff is to expand their professional competences in terms of lifelong learning for the employment market - Intercultural European education for teachers and pupils is to be improved and a feeling for being a European citizen is to be developed - The risk of dropping out of school and becoming an educational failure is to be diminished ESSB is planning eight mobilities which are equally spread among the different work areas at the school (school administration, class teachers, tuition teachers, teachers of “all-day-school-area”) The teachers will attend foreign language courses abroad; the school administration will do a course in methodic and didactics of foreign languages in English. The learning mobilities will consist of at least two weeks. There are the main European languages at choice, as well as Portuguese because Portugal is a partner in our current multilateral school partnership. The language courses are consistent with the European frame of reference for foreign languages. The teachers will choose a qualified course and the school administration will approve of it if the course is in accordance with the criteria outlined in ESSB. As a result of the project we expect for the teachers a higher competence of the actual foreign language, for the school administration a more qualified level of methodical and didactical competence concerning foreign languages as well as a deepened intercultural understanding for the host countries. These results will enhance the level of education at our school. In workshops the pupils will receive in addition to their standard lessons an offer to learn new languages and to learn about intercultural education. In theatre groups, workshops and subjects like General Studies, History, Geography, Music and Art the acquired competences will be implemented for the pupils. This will help the pupils with learning new languages; a higher intercultural education and a higher motivation to learn foreign languages will be achieved. All this will have a positive effect on their successful school career. The ESSB Project will be multiplied by the participating teachers, the staff and the school administration in many different ways (lectures, websites, further education for teachers etc.) The success of the project will be verified by suitable means (for example visitations by the school administration, number of EU-workshops, questionnaires for parents).
