Purpose of our application is the development of the European thought in our college. Thecollective training in Brussels shall contribute to the development and strengthening of the team. Upto now there is only a small circle of colleagues that is involved in these European activities. This isabout to change. The number of participating colleagues shall increase so that the Europeanactivities at our school can be intensified and improved. Prerequisite for that, is the engagement ofcolleagues with the European added value and the transfer to their work with the pupils. Fromexperience with past Comenius projects we know that the personal contact and the own experienceson-site always have the most sustainable effects. Therefore it is important that more colleagues gaintheir own experiences in Europe with the help of the mobilities. Until now our European schoolactivities have been mainly focused on the pupils. After many years of diligent, but exhausting workthe colleagues now need new motivation and inspiration for their intercultural work in school life.For us it is not enough that only a few colleagues fill the title “Europaschule in Sachsen” with life.Together with our new school administration we want to qualify as European school team. Ourexperiences show that pupils and parents alike have great interest for our intercultural work. Wewant to live up to these expectations. For that we need more colleagues who open up and dare tolook beyond their own horizon. Especially at a primary school that is not given since manycolleagues move back because of the language barrier. That is a further reason why foreignlanguage training is so important in our application. Two colleagues even started to learn Englishfor the Comenius projects. That is what they want to continue because they experienced howimportant and interesting the communication with the project partners is. By that the colleagues willbe able to support the Europe-Team in meetings. Especially in the eastern parts of Germany thereare strong prejudices. With our Europe school we want to bring up and educate little Europeans togrown up Europeans. Prerequisite is a tolerant and strong team of teachers that integratesintercultural aspects into the daily lesson practice methodically and didactically. An open, tolerantthinking – European consciousness – is basis for that. With mobility we want to strengthen thisaspect. The colleagues shall integrate European aspects naturally and be able to communicate withpartners in Europe. This includes the use of modern technology as well which is partly existent atour school (Smartboards in almost all classrooms) but yet not used enough. With a strengthened andmotivated team of teachers we want to use the gained experiences to revise our school program.The European component shall be emphasised. The work shadowing at partner schools also servesthe purpose to get to know other school systems and programs. Thereby we want to collect andcodify ideas for our own work. By the end of the school year 2016/17 our new school program shallbe finished. We want to apply for an extension of the seal of approval “Europaschule in Sachsen”from 2017. An important criterion is the education and further training of school staff. True to themaxim “the journey is the reward” we work on our goal to become an active, lively Europe schoolwith a strong team of teachers and motivated and educated pupils. Since last year ourinterdisciplinary project weeks are planned according to the motto “Eine Reise um die Welt” (“Ajourney around the world”). Here and during the Europe day in May the colleagues can introduceand test new experiences and insights directly.
