The work of the European Volunteers is supervised by a person in charge responsible for the respective work place the volunteer is assigned to. The volunteer will be assigned to different work places including the coordinating organisation itself, and will be trained by the person in charge to do various tasks. Depending on the work place the Volunteer will be assigned to various social projects and will look after children and teenagers including mentally challenged, physically handicapped or with immigrant background. They help these children and teenagers with studying, orinetation in life and integration in society. Volunteers working with children and teenagers with immigrant background positively affects learning the language for both and helps integration within the regional community and brings down cultural barriers. After arriving in the respective town or community the volunteer is introduced to the work place and the environment. In the beginning the volunteer will make a language course.There will be regular meetings (Supervision) throughout the whole stay, the supervisor will help the volunteer with all aspects of social life and questions concerning their stay. During the 12 months, the volunteer will be assigned to seminars organised by Jugend in Aktion (youth in action) and trainings within the organisation. Depending on the personality and the work place of the volunteer the degree of responsibilty and self-reliance varies.
