Kajaanitulli school is a special education school and is part of the comprehensive education of the city of Oulu. Kajaanintulli school has two units: Kajaanintulli school and Oulu Hospital school. Kajaanintulli school is focused on providing special education to students with behavioural problems and psychic or neuropsychiatric problems. Oulu Hospital school offers education for children who are patients in Oulu University Hospital.Our school has very challenging students, who have severe problems taking part in teacher-led, traditional education and methods of teaching. Therefore it is essential that we find new, refreshishing operative methods. Via previous Erasmus+ KA1 and KA2 -projects our staffs and students attitudes and methods have changed and expanded. It is important to search for new, innovative and motivating working methods.For our units to be able to provide purposeful and versatile education and support, our faculty needs a wider vision and experience in implementing various methods. Our aim is to support and guide individual development towards active and independent learning. Our school is utilizing arts and crafts and various working methods, such as outdoor education, as part of our schools culture to lower the students' stress levels and to enhance the students' abilities. We have selected our partnering schools so, that they support this culture. Participation in the conference provides our staff with new ideas and methods. Those who attend the seminars and job shadowing will share the knowledge with the rest of the faculty. By comparing experiences we will develop our methods and improve them. With these actions we aim to respond to the challenges of the new national curriculum.
