Date du début: 17 juin 2014, Date de fin: 16 déc. 2015 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Context/background of the project: The project “EU Young Starter” was initially developed between partners from United Kingdom, Bulgaria, Estonia, Ireland and Cyprus. All project partners met at a Youth in Action PBA in Denmark in November 2013. There they shared their experiences stemming from their own countries and found that each had experiences that were unique and yet helpful for the other partners. Partners found also similarities on the work field and employment problems among young people. Outcome of the PBA (partner building activity) in Denmark was the idea for cooperation to work with and for young people to prepare them for future employment, promote entrepreneurship and also attempt to decrease unemployment among young people. After the project was awarded, 2 of the named sending organisations, SA Raplamaa Info-ja Noustamiskeskus (ESTONIA) and Foroige (IRELAND), were no longer trading and therefore were not able to carry out their responsibilities for the project. The coordinator, MEH, communicated with the Project Officer at the National Agency and agreed to maintain the participant numbers to around 24 by first and foremost increasing the number of participants from existing partners using the travel budget of the Irish and Estonian partners. This means that there was still 3 partner countries involved and sending mobilities came from 2 existing partners Objectives: The Objective was to create opportunities for the young participants to be exposed and practice entrepreneurship through non-formal, practical and participative methods and to create situations during the project where participants, reflect and rethink in a conscious but also unconscious way their comparative strengths and how these could be used for future employment and their comparative weaknesses and how these can be improved to enable each young participant to fulfill their full potential in the work place. Participants: Participants were chosen at an early stage of the project and they were also part of the project development. The Project program was developed in full cooperation with participants who were consulted through the circle of social media, used for the project building phase. Most of the participants who were chosen were aged 17-21, 10 participants per country, others, were selected according to their specific issues . Criteria for the participants were young people from high school final course or not studying nor working young people or young person finishing studies and facing future employment. Activities were developed according to the objectives and aims of the project. Main activities were group activities and workshops to develop entrepreneurial skills. These activities were done by using roleplay. Participants had also opportunity to learn how to work in multicultural teams and to develop a business plan. For these activities we used from youth to youth tool. We also used different team building exercises. Project management was divided between partners. Each partner had their part in application, program building and project building and also leading the activities. For the coordinating process between project partners social media was used such as Skype, Facebook and emails. Results and impact attained: Improved key competencies and skills, with particular regard to their relevance for the labor market and their contribution to a cohesive society, in particular through increased opportunities for learning mobility and through strengthened cooperation between the world of education and training and the world of work. Participants developed transferable skills such as creativity, critical thinking, and self-learning. Young people are more active citizens in their local community and also in Europe as they developed mutual understanding between young people in different countries. They improved their communication skills including languages which promote linguistic diversity and intercultural awareness. Enhanced employability and improved career prospects. Increased sense of initiative and entrepreneurship. Enhanced intercultural awareness. Long term benefits: In the long term this project has been a motivating tool that encourages young people to apply for new projects and/or for new work. Also encourage to work on their ideas and enter to the entrepreneur’s world. This project was motivation for young people to encourage increased positive activity in their local community as well.
