This project on EU LAW ON BUSINESS AND HUMAN RIGHTS aims at enhancing knowledge on Business and Human Rights (B&HR) from the perspective of EU law, within the framework of European integration and responsibile citinzenship.Human rights (HR) protection from corporate activities is a crucial topic under EU law. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is on the EU agenda since 2001. The Project focuses and aims at developing teaching and research activities on 5 areas of EU law, respectively concerning the EU legal framework on HR protection, the EU legal framework on CSR, the EU implementation of the internationally recognized standards of conduct on B&HR, the EU external relations, with special regard to the trade and investment policies, the EU private international law relevant in the field of B&HR. The Project intends to create a new teaching module on EU law on B&HR (42 hours/year, in English, in the framework of the LLM on Sustainable Development), open to students, academics, experts, professionals, corporations, civil society, policy makers, public administrators, civil servants, the general public, and developing related research activity. The proposed activities include the organization of moot-courts, case-studies, 9 workshops and 1 final conference, involving academics from Italian and foreign institutions, civil society and corporate representativesI as invited speakers. In so doing, the Project wil fill the gap existing in the Italian University and scientific panorama.The outcomes of the research will be published on international legal journals, presented at national and international conferences, and collected in a volume edited by the Module Leader; teaching materials will be uploaded on the e-learning platform of the University; information about the Project and the related events will be disseminated through a dedicated web-page and a newly created newsletter.
